Lytle’s thoughts regarding “The County Sheriff”

The Humboldt County Sheriff  is an important elected position which is extremely integral in the role of providing proper stewardship for the people:

First, the sheriff must be understanding. That is, the sheriff must truly know who his or her employers are; and, who he or she must coordinate with in attaining the people’s trust and encouragement to carry on with the privilege they have in serving the people. Often, the men and women who wear uniforms get criticized. Jeffrey Lytle has criticized at times, but rightly so. In this land of freedom (of what is left anyway), it is the responsibility for both the entrusted official and the people to work together, even when criticisms are the only way to move an issue forward. Not only do the people not want a huge police force or police state, the people surely do not want to feel like the government is letting them down when it comes to domestic violence and the safety and well being of the public. So, tightening the bond between sheriff and his/her employers is necessary. Encouraging The People to “self-police” is a priority, especially in lieu of upcoming budget shortfalls and future debt obligations which will cut appropriated funding for many jurisdictions.

Second, when it comes to enforcement policies, there seems to be this reality of  “unreasonable” over-enforcement for simple, yet politically motivated matters. This must cease. It is necessary that a Sheriff and/or deputies be safe and secure too, but some of the (what should have been a casual interaction) events make folks question the allocations of those particular deputies. Jeffrey Lytle understands that enforcement is lacking in other situations like land planning and zoning issues, environmental issues, etc…, but, when it comes to some of the isolated events within the Sheriff’s Department, the citizens can only have additional and intensified concern from feeling antagonized.

Most of the men and women who are serving the people do a darn good job; but, like every other profession in society, there exists those sour lemons. So, this is an important area as well for the sheriff – knowing his employees subordinate to him or her so that the sheriff can retain confidence too, just as The People. Politics often does have a way with hidden agendas, which can make a good person do some not so good things. Let us all work together to be proactive toward this concern as well. Don’t let well trained peace officers be outshined.

Funding the department is going to be a “hair-brainer” of a task. There will be cuts, adjustments, shifts of funds, etc… There will be many requests before the Board of Supervisors for constituent partnering as well. There may even be sponsorships too. All in all, it will be tight; and, the 5th District voters may have to make do with less as this country is in debt. Funding concerns are why building a strong community neighborhood watch program again is important. Self-policing does help immensely.

Jeffrey Lytle Shall:

  • Encourage and work toward properly positioned outposts in each jurisdiction liable to Humboldt County.
  • Encourage  and work toward continued community efforts between the tribal territories and Humboldt County deputies.
  • Work to re-connect neighborhoods with a neighborhood watch program for self-policing.
  • Work to secure a more transparent and open policy for the protection of the civil rights of medical marijuana consumers, producers, retailers, manufacturers, distributors, dispensaries, neighborhoods, general respect issues, etc..
  • Work toward the initial introduction and use of  e-mail communications between community members and staff /deputy for follow-up needs after reports are taken.
  • Work toward ensuring all reports and incidents being taken or monitored at or near the scene are done with digital audio recordation and transferred over to a computer data base for public archiving.
  • Work toward securing computer hard drives to be retained by the Humboldt County Grand Jury for public and private archiving needs.
  • Work to ensure that civil rights violations and complaints are not taken lightly.
  • Work to better the emergency response between the outlying areas and main headquarters.

No Sheriff Left Behind

Yes, that’s the plan. Make sure that every sheriff in the country has received a copy of “The County Sheriff: America’s Last Hope”. We’re not going to force them — er, excuse me… withhold federal money from them — but we are going to give them an opportunity to read it. With your donations, we can make it happen. When every sheriff understands his duty and functions with the support of those whom he serves, then not only will there be “no sheriff left behind” but we, the people will not be left behind!

April 2009: THERE ARE NO SHERIFFS LEFT BEHIND IN MINNESOTA! Many people have written in telling us that they have given a copy of “The County Sheriff” to their own county sheriff… and that’s awesome! Every bit is appreciated, and we can only hope it will make a difference. Now here’s something a little extra special: A woman in Minnesota bought a copy of the book for all 87 county Sheriffs in her state, hand-addressed them and mailed them along with an introductory letter. Click here to see her letter.
UPDATE: Here are written responses from some of the sheriffs who have received the book: 1 2 3

June 2009: THERE ARE NO SHERIFFS LEFT BEHIND IN Ohio, Montana, Idaho or Arizona!

September 2009: THERE ARE NO SHERIFFS LEFT BEHIND IN Colorado, Florida, South Dakota, California, Washington, Arkansas, Missouri, Maryland, Massachusetts or Illinois!

Welcome to
Hi, I’m Richard Mack, former sheriff of Graham County, Arizona, and long-time crusader for freedom and individual rights. Right now, it is vital that we restore the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. The greatest threat we face today is not terrorists; it is our own federal government. If America is conquered or ruined it will be from within, not a foreign enemy. In 1994 I filed a lawsuit challenging the Brady bill to stop the federal government from forcing another unfunded mandate down our throats. I won a decision at the US Supreme Court on the issue of States’ rights. This suit catapulted me to national attention, with television appearances on the Donahue Show, Good Morning America, Crossfire, Nightline, CNBC, and SHOWTIME’S the AMERICAN CANDIDATE. I’ve been on over 500 radio talk shows nationwide, ranging from G. Gordon Liddy and Charles Goyette to Derry Brownfield and Pat Buchannan. I have traveled the country extensively and I’ve seen first hand the horrible side effects from politicians who have replaced our Constitution with their own political agendas and party platforms.I lecture and give seminars on constitutional issues relating to gun control, law enforcement, States’ rights, the farce, otherwise known as the drug war, and the oath of office. I have also been a consultant for lawyers, and people in general helping them with cases of unlawful arrests and police misconduct. I have stood for “the little guy” against “big brother” government.

On this site you’ll find many articles and extracts from books I’ve written on many subjects related to maintaining our freedom as a people. I am deeply committed to the belief that government should exist to protect the freedoms of the individuals whom it serves. We must return to those principles that our country was founded upon!

The founders of our nation were afraid of one thing more than any other… government having too much power! Remember, they escaped from the tyranny of an oppressive and controlling government when they established this nation. They fought and died for it, and now we are letting these same freedoms they fought for slip away little by little, without a second thought.

Please join me in the fight to regain our rights, while the price to pay is less than death. I am committed to doing all we can peacefully to get our country back.

In order to succeed, we must first make ourselves aware of the problem. We must educate ourselves, and then we can know what action to take. One of the best and easiest solutions is to depend on local officials, especially the sheriff, to stand against federal intervention and federal criminality.

And this is the purpose of my work: I write and speak so that others will become educated and free.

  • What rights does the constitution actually guarantee?
  • Why is it important that we not allow our means of self-defense to be taken from us?
  • What are the dangers of giving government too much power?
  • What can we do to remain strong as individuals and families, so that we can remain strong as a nation?
  • How do we win the war on illegal drugs?
  • What can the sheriff do to protect us from all enemies, both foreign and domestic?

Please take a few moments to read and think about these things. It really may be a life or death situation!
